Description

The handheld plasma pen is an exceptional tool for surface treatment. The plasma pen can be used to increase the surface energy of various materials including PDMS and glass for microfluidic bonding or to clean material surfaces.

Modules:

  • Module Standard is designed for the surface treatment of non-conductive substrates such as plastics, ceramics or glass. For effective treatment, a module-substrate distance of 1 to 5 mm is recommended. If uncontrolled arcing occurs on the substrate surface during use, the unit switches off automatically.
  • Module Nearfield was developed especially for the treatment of electrically conductive substrates / materials such as metals or conductive polymers. Even partially conductive materials such as carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) can be treated with this exchangeable module. The device can only produce a surface activation if there is an electrically conductive substrate in front of the device within the range of the permissible working distance (approx. 0.5 to 2.0 mm). If the distance is larger, plasma generation may not be possible depending on the material and shape of your substrate. If too large of a distance is selected, the device will automatically stop plasma generation after 5 seconds.
  • Module Multigas has a side port that enables plasma treatment under inert gas. The flow rate range is approximately 0.5 to 3.0 l/min.
  • Module Needle is suitable for treating of very small or hard-to-reach areas on non-conductive materials. It can be used to treat narrow grooves, bores and other cavities, as very fine treatment is performed with the needle.
  • Module Nearfield Needle is suitable for treating of very small or hard-to-reach areas on conductive materials. It can be used to treat narrow grooves, bores and other cavities, as very fine treatment is performed with the needle.
  • Module Integration was developed for integration into new and existing production lines. Based on Piezoelectric Direct Discharge (PDD®) technology, the plasma device generates cold-active plasma. The plasma solution has been designed to be particularly compact, safe and energy efficient. By using atmospheric pressure plasma, the surface energy of many materials is increased, improving wettability.

The professional set includes one Standard module and one Nearfield module packed neatly in a protective case with charging cable. The Standard module is great for non-conductive materials such as PDMS and glass while the Nearfield module can be used for conductive substrates.
